How long does therapy last?
Therapy duration depends on individual requirements, and could vary person to person. Therapy is more about what you are struggling with, and where you want to get to. Some people can get back on track with a couple of sessions, whereas others may need longer term treatment. In the initial assessment I can give you a clearer sense of how long we will work collaboratively toward your goals. This will be depend on our regular review and your progress. My aim is to empower you with the understanding and tools to become your own therapist and be able to manage your setbacks.
EMDR Therapy

The PTSD often occurs after experiences such as rape, sexual assault, car accident, military combat or physical assault.
During EMDR therapy sessions, you relive traumatic or triggering experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs your eye movements via bilateral stimulation.
EMDR is a research evidence-based therapy and it is highly effective because recalling distressing events is often less emotionally upsetting when your attention is being diverted. This allows you to be exposed to the adverse memories from the very early childhood or latest disturbing memory or unpleasant thoughts without having a strong psychological response.
It is also recommended for those who struggle to talk about their past experiences.

ACT Therapy

In addition, ACT encourages induvial to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. ACT further develops psychological flexibility and is a form of Behavioral therapy that involves mindfulness skills with the practice of self-acceptance. Usually in daily life, we are getting ‘hooked’ by some heavy emotions that can be quite painful to process. ACT encourages us to accept these emotions as soon as they surface. The sooner you accept the feeling, the sooner you can move on from it. It's highly effective to remember that feelings are not based on facts, and they can pass just as quickly as they come along. They only have power over you as long as you allow them. If having a clearer mind and healthier lifestyle sounds encouraging to you, then it would worth to try ACT to achieve a satisfactory life.
